Suburban Oasis
Site: The large wooded corner lot had many limiting factors, including a septic field, high water table, blue clay soils, slopes, narrow backyard and large side yard. The owner wanted to incorporate a number of landscape features to meet the needs of the family.
Solution: With retaining walls and steps, we created a series of spaces, including a swimming pool, spa, two dining areas, an outdoor kitchen with BBQ, children's play area, herb and raised vegetable garden. Emerging from the wooded background, a waterfall creates a beautiful setting for all these activities. Plantings tie the spaces together by softening transitions. The covered patio of the guesthouse provides a smooth connection between the outdoor recreation area and indoor entertainment facilities.
